Unlocking Clarity Through Reality Checks: The Power of Reflection and Allies
Lately, I’ve been reflecting on the importance of reality checks, both through inner inquiry and with trusted allies. It’s easy to get stuck in our own stories seeing life as we see ourselves. But sometimes those stories are clouded by blind spots, limiting beliefs, or patterns that keep us recreating the same scenarios. This is where reality checks come in, providing an opportunity to pause and step outside of the narratives we tell ourselves.
One of the most powerful ways I’ve experienced this is through working with my coach, whom I meet with regularly. For the past two years, he has been a vital ally on my journey, helping me check the reality I’m living in, or, more accurately, the stories I’m telling myself.
You see, we all view life through our own unique lens, and sometimes that lens becomes distorted. We get caught in loops of thinking or behavior, unable to see a way out. But when we have someone, a coach, mentor, or even a trusted friend, who can truly hear us, reflect back without giving advice, and help us shift perspective, magic happens. Suddenly, what felt overwhelming or confusing becomes clearer. Insights emerge, and we begin to see life and choices from a whole new angle.
The reality is (pun intended!) that there are infinite ways to view any given situation. When we open ourselves to these reality checks, it’s like unlocking a highway in our minds and hearts that leads to new possibilities. That one highway can take us to countless new places, expanding our sense of what’s possible.
But here’s somethings to consider:
Does your current reality match your vision?
Do the life you’re living and the way you feel align with what you truly want at your core?
If not, how can you start to shift, little by little, through Simple Shifts, to connect with the deeper vision and feeling you long for?
Do you believe you can create your own reality? Sounds a bit sci-fi, right? But the truth is, the reality we experience is largely shaped by the stories we tell ourselves and the choices we make daily. So if you're feeling stuck or out of alignment, maybe it's time to ask: What reality do I want to create?
When I leave a session with my coach, I often feel lighter, clearer, and more connected to my own truth. It’s as if the weight of my old story has been lifted, and I’m free to create a new one. This is the power of reality checks, whether with yourself or through the reflection of a trusted ally, they allow you to see beyond the limits you may not even realize are there.
So, how are you checking your reality?
Do you have a practice for stepping out of your "I" identification to see the bigger picture, or do you have an accountability buddy to keep you grounded in truth? Are you open to exploring what shifts are needed to connect with the vision you hold for yourself?
If you’re feeling stuck in old patterns or craving a fresh perspective, I’d love to support you in checking your reality or helping you create a new one. Let’s connect and see what shifts are waiting for you.
